This is Marc

Marc Mennigmann was born in Germany in 1970, early enough to know vinyl records, analog photography, and real rock music. Father of two, husband, entrepreneur, photographer, videographer, musician, developer, and – above all – a possibilitarian by heart.

Marc’s photography thrives at the intersection of technical mastery and artistic intuition. Starting with medium-format film and a Lomo camera in the early 2000s, he transitioned to digital photography, combining a love for detail with a flair for storytelling.

His work behind the lens has brought him close to some of the greatest artists of our time, including Steven Wilson, Joe Satriani, Al Di Meola, Tony Levin, and Steve Gadd. Through his hands-on, intimate approach, he captures not just an image but the essence of the subject, often focusing on the musicians’ hands as instruments of their craft.

Curious? Want to know more about Marc Mennigmann?

My journey into photography began as an extension of my curiosity about art and technology. By the time I picked up my first camera, I was already steeped in music, exploring the boundaries of sound and rhythm. The medium of photography quickly became a parallel passion, offering a way to visually narrate the energy and emotion I encountered in creative spaces.

For nearly three decades, I balanced music, photography, and entrepreneurship, co-founding a multimedia agency and leading a company for industrial optical components. My lens has since been a ticket to extraordinary opportunities: capturing legendary musicians on stage, in studios, and beyond, while honing a minimalist aesthetic that focuses on authenticity and connection.

In 2021, I chose to leave behind the corporate world and move with my family to Portugal. Under the brand “Algarve Sound & Vision,” I now dedicate myself fully to the creative pursuits I love most: photography, videography, music production, playing music, and programming. For me, every project is a collaboration, a chance to connect, create, and craft something meaningful.

Thanks for stopping by—let’s create something together!
